#1 – Best Overall: Logitech R400

Logitech R400

Compatibility: Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 or later

Logitech makes some of the best, most reliable computer accessories, so it’s no surprise that their products are at the top of my list of best presenter remotes. The Wireless Presenter R400 isn’t the latest or most high-tech of their presenters (see the R800 below), but it strikes just the right balance between reliability, user-friendliness, convenience, and price to earn the title “best overall.”

I love the ergonomic design and this is the remote that I have been using for my presentations lately and the thing just works flawlessly.

Range isn’t top-of-class—just 50 feet—but the integrated USB docking bay makes it easy to plug it into any computer and get working right away, no software to install whatsoever. The 2.4 GHz signal is highly stable and rarely disconnects, even at the far end of the range.

The AA battery power means you can always have a pair of backup batteries ready for a quick change-out just in case. The touch keys make controlling your presentation intuitive, and I love the built-in laser pointer for when I need to highlight anything important.

 Pros:

  •  Incredibly easy to set up; no software needs to be installed
  •  Excellent price tag
  •  Powered by AA batteries; easy to switch out/recharge as needed
  •  Reliable connection with USB docking bay
  •  Docking bay built into the body of the remote for easy access/storage

 Cons:

  •  People with large fingers may find the buttons a bit small
  •  Doesn’t automatically switch off when the docking bay is inserted; have to switch off manually
  • Lacking the capabilities of some of the other higher-tech remotes on my list

#2 – Most Versatile: Kensington Expert

kensington expert wireless presenter

  Compatibility: Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Mac OS X

If you (like me) hate fiddling with tech (especially in the middle of a presentation!), you’ll want to consider the Kensington Expert presenter remote. It’s got an above-average range (150 feet), a plug-and-play design, and the ability to switch back and forth between a laser pointer and the laptop/computer cursor so you can control your screen using the built-in joystick.

Compatible with MacOS and Windows (7 to 10), it’s programmed to work with both PowerPoint and Keynote—so you could say it is the one device to control them all! The remote is “uniquely paired” with the receiver so the signal will never falter or waver, and you’ll find that it plugs instantly into any USB-A port (an adaptor will be needed to make it USB-C compatible). Thanks to the backlit buttons, I’m always able to see what I’m doing even if the lights are shut off.

Note: You can also get one with a green laser pointer if you prefer that color.

 Pros:

  •  Integrated joystick serves as wireless mouse to control the cursor
  • 150-foot range with USB receiver is better than average
  •  Plug-and-play; get set up in a matter of seconds
  •  Compatible with MacOS and Windows
  •  Most reliable connection on the market

 Cons:

  •  Not compatible with Windows 11 (yet)
  •  Mouse can be cumbersome (works like a gaming console joystick)
  •  Buttons may be too sensitive, may skip slides

#3 – Advanced Option: Logitech Spotlight

logitech spotlight

  Compatibility: Windows, Mac OS

Looking to showcase some specific element of your presentation or highlight an important note on your slides? The Logitech Spotlight is another great option in presentation pointers. This little presenter remote lets you point to a specific part of the screen to magnify or highlight, letting you call attention to critical details with the press of a button. The remote can also switch to cursor control, making it easy to play/pause videos, click on links, switch between windows/tabs, and so much more.

The remote connects via both 2.4 GHz pairing with the dongle and Bluetooth, so you’ve got options depending on the device you’re connecting with. The remote works with all major operating systems and software, and the accompanying Logitech presentation app gives you extra features you won’t get with other remotes. Finally, I love that when I’m reaching the end of my time, the remote vibrates to give me the five-minute warning to wrap up.

This is one of the best presenter remotes you can buy today.

 Pros:

  •  Spotlight and cursor features make it incredibly versatile
  • Rechargeable battery
  •  Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz USB connection
  •  Universal compatibility-works with most major OSes and software suites
  •  Well-priced considering how feature-rich it is
  •  Compact and lightweight; comfortable to hold

 Cons:

  •  Installation and setup of Logitech software required-can be time-consuming
  •  Doesn’t easily pair with new devices (better to use with the same computer/device again and again)
  •  Clicker buttons tend to be noisy

#4 – Most Compact: RetroJoyOX Finger Ring

retrojoyox finger ring presenter

Compatibility: MAC, Windows, & other laptops with compatible USB Port

Coming up next on my list of best presenter remotes is the compact and fun RetroJoyOX Finger Ring. You’ll love this “ring-style” presenter as much as I do! The remote’s finger ring design is designed to slide over your finger and nestle in the palm of your hand, but you won’t need to grip/hold it in place because it’ll stay put on your finger for hours at a time. I can even write and type with it on!

The remote uses a reliable 2.4 GHz connection to pair with the provided USB dongle, which stores inside the remote’s body to keep it safe when not in use. There are only three buttons—forward, backward, and screen off—so it won’t be as high-tech or feature-rich as some of the other options on our list, but easier to use with less chance of hitting the wrong button.

The laser pointer’s bright red light works well to highlight any important elements on your presentation. It’s compatible with MacOS and Windows, and can run with Word, Excel, Keynote, iWork, ACDSee, Prezi, and more. Best of all, it needs no battery to power it, but comes with its own micro-USB-charged battery pack.

 Pros:

  •  Batteries not required; internal battery pack charged via micro-USB
  •  Easy to control, no fussing with too many buttons
  •  Compatible with a wide range of software in MacOS and Windows
  •  Compact, slides on your finger to stay securely in place
  •  Ring can stretch to accommodate multiple finger sizes

 Cons:

  •  Seller doesn’t offer any returns
  •  Quality control issues with the USB dongle/connection hardware
  •  Not the most long-lasting remote on my list

#5 – Best Budget Option: DinoFire Wireless

dinofire wireless

Compatibility: Windows 2003, XP, Windows Vista, Windows7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Mac OS, Linux, Android

Looking for a high-tech solution at a bargain-budget cost? Give this sleek, stylish DinoFire Wireless presenter remote a try! Its AAA battery power means it’s slimmer and lighter than full-sized remotes—barely larger than a pen—but that doesn’t stop it from offering a wide range of features. On the contrary, in fact; the controls let you long press, short press, single click, and double click to activate a different function, giving you total control over your presentation and laptop.

It’s compatible with Windows and MacOS, and functions with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote, iWork, Google Slides, and even web browsers. It can be used on old computers with OSes as antiquated as Windows XP, as well as any modern Linux and Android computer. Thanks to its magnetized design, the USB “tail” (dongle) will never get lost or slip out once it’s connected to the remote. Features a standard red laser pointer.

 Pros:

  •  Compact and lightweight but surprisingly feature-rich
  •  One of the best-priced remotes on the market
  •  Decent range: up to 98 feet
  •  Compatible with multiple OSes and lots of software
  •  Built-in magnets keep the tail securely in place

 Cons:

  •  Long shipping times (coming from China)
  •  Multiple button features can be a bit tricky to figure out; steep learning curve
  •  Hardware isn’t always reliable; users complain that “sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t”

#6 – Most User-Friendly: Kensington Wireless

kensington wireless presenter

Compatibility: Windows 7, 8.1, 10 and Mac OS X, Chrome OS

Next on my list of best presenter remotes is the Kensington Wireless Presenter.

Say goodbye to fiddly buttons and complex features, and say hello to the simplest, most user-friendly wireless presenter remote you could ask for. It comes with just four buttons (forward, backward, start, and stop), everything you need to get through your presentation with ease. It’s compact enough to fit in the palm of your hand and ergonomically designed so you won’t grow tired even after an hour or two of holding it. It’s also beautifully lightweight!

Range is less-than-excellent—you’ll get anywhere between 30 and 65 feet, depending on obstacles—but the connection is secure and stable. It’s also backed by a AES 128-bit encryption that ensures it’s protected against hacking or interference. The nano-USB dongle is stored in the battery compartment to ensure it never gets lost but remains easily accessible when you want to start the presentation. It’s also laser-free, making it perfect for environments where laser pointers aren’t permitted.

 Pros:

  •  Simple operation, easy learning curve
  •  USB dongle is compact and unobtrusive when connected
  •  Stable, reliable, hack-proof connection
  •  Compact, ergonomic, and lightweight
  •  Affordable price

 Cons:

  •  No laser pointer
  •  Updated model removes the USB dongle storage compartment
  •  Poor range

#7 – Best Screen: Logitech R800 Pro

logitech professional presenter r800

Compatibility: Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 or later

Rounding out my list of best presenter remotes is the Logitech R800 Pro. The addition of a screen makes this hands-down one of the best presenter remotes on the market. Not only does it let me see the run-time of your presentation, but I can also keep track of wireless connection with my device and battery life.

The remote is designed to vibrate silently when you’re losing signal/moving out of range, running out of power, or coming to the end of your presentation. Thanks to these alerts, I can focus on what I’m doing while still staying aware of the time.

The LCD screen is bright enough to see even in low-light environments, but it won’t shine so brightly it will draw attention. The 100-foot range allows you to move around the room/stage as desired, and the intuitive controls make it easy to move between slides at the click of a button.

 Pros:

  •  Silent alerts let you know when you’re out of range or running out of time or power
  •  Comfortable to hold, lightweight
  •  Reliable connection, longer-than-average signal range
  •  Easy learning curve; user-friendly operation
  •  No software installation required, just plug and play!

 Cons:

  •  Small-sized buttons may be tougher for people with large hands
  •  Burns through battery power; batteries need recharging after 6-8 hours of use
  •  Quality control issues reported-some users complained the remote overheated and burned out
